Community Service

Many years ago Bill Korek formed FUNdKIDS, a fundraising organization that is part of The Wildlands Conservancy (TWC). Our fundraising efforts provide free outdoor field trips at TWC’s preserves for disadvantaged children.

There are several million families in California who earn $20,000 or less per year. Virtually all of them spend over 50% of this money to pay rent leaving little to spend on food, clothing and medical care, let alone child development opportunities.

FUNdKIDS provides funds to pay for outdoor experiences and education outings for these children. TWC has received donated properties and also purchases the most beautiful properties to preserve and open up to the public. Today, they own over 145,000 acres, all open free to the public, and provide free award-winning outdoor education experiences to over 40,000 children per year. All this is accomplished from individual and corporate donations without government money.

Parks & Recreation

As a past and a present member of the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Commission, Bill and Deanne know firsthand the role parks and recreation play in keeping children and families safe and engaged in their community.

Los Angeles County is home to some of the nation’s most amazing parks with a wide variety of events, services, programs, and facilities.

From local parks where kids can run and play to Community Regional Parks with fishing, boating, hiking and swimming to splash pads where kids and parents can soak up the fun – they have something for everyone!  Or discover one of several Nature Centers, where you can learn about native flora and fauna, Wildlife Sanctuaries, or famous botanical gardens and the iconic Hollywood Bowl.

With the world’s largest municipal golf course system, you can play beautiful courses with views from the mountains to the seas. Click here to search the hundreds of parks, things to do and amenities that Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation has to offer.
